Meet Our Staff
LaKeva Casey Harris, MSN, FNP-C (LaKeva Casey)
LaKeva has been working as a nurse practitioner in pediatrics over 4 years. She received her nurse practitioner degree from Troy University in May of 2015. She is currently working on her PhD in nursing at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and has a strong foundation in evidence-based practice. LaKeva has a passion for kids and also teaches pediatric nursing at the University of North Alabama. She and her husband, Rodney, have two daughters of their own. Therefore, she understands parents’ desire for compassionate and trustworthy care.
Dr. Javar Myatt-Jones
Dr. Jones is the collaborator here at Kids First. He has extensive experience in family medicine. Dr. Jones is a well-respected physician dedicated to providing compassionate care in the Shoals area.
Rodney Harris, Administrator/Office Manager
Rodney has been working with children and adolescents for 10+ years. He is a teacher and coach for Florence City Schools. Rodney received his Masters in Education from the University of North Alabama. In his spare time, Rodney enjoys sports, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Glenda Barnett, Medical Assistant
Glenda has been working in the medical field for 10+ years. She is currently working on her Associate’s Degree in Nursing at Northwest Shoals Community College. Glenda also works as a Medical Assistant at a local family physician’s office. She is passionate about her job and goes above and beyond to make sure her patients receive the best possible care. Glenda is the mother of two, LaKayla and Colin, and the grandmother of a little girl, Jada who is 3 years old. When she is not working, Glenda enjoys spending time with her granddaughter and traveling.
Shaunteka “Teka” Bell, Medical Assistant
Teka has been working in the medical field for the past 6 years. She received her Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting from Northwest Shoals Community College in May of 2014. Teka is a highly skilled phlebotomist that is passionate about taking care of others. She is also a loving mother to her 5 year old son.
Lakyria Carter, Medical Assistant/Receptionist
Lakyria graduated from Northwest Shoals Community College as a Medical Assistant in 2016. She has worked as a medical assistant for 3 years, and as a receptionist for 2 years. She has a strong passion for helping others. She loves working in the medical field and putting a smile on others’ faces during some of their most vulnerable times. She is the mother of a one-year old. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.
Cindy Douglass, Receptionist
Cindy has been working in the medical field for 7+ years. She has 4 wonderful children. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her children, traveling, football and crocheting.
Felicia Miller, Receptionist
Felicia has worked with children for 30+ years. She has a Masters in Education from the University of North Alabama. She is a kindergarten teacher and has a heart for kids. In her spare time, Felicia enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She and her husband have two daughters, one son, and three precious grandchildren.
Kristan Miller, Receptionist
Kristan is currently a student at the University of North Alabama. She has worked with kids for 7+ years. She serves in the nursery at Church of the Highlands and has babysitting experience. Kristan enjoys working out and traveling in her spare time.
